Sunday's First

The "First Sunday of the Month" OR "Sunday is First",
are both fit descriptions of our worship services on the First Sunday of each month.
These specially themed worship services are intentionally planned and designed for all ages, and are intended to remind us to put Sundays first in our lives and not as an afterthought.
The themes for worship are meant to peak interest, but will not be used as a gimmick.  Instead, their elements are included to engage and inspire the youngest to the oldest of worship-goers.

November--ALL SAINTS DAY
November 1, 2015, 10:30 AM

We celebrated ALL SAINTS DAY this month.
The Middler children were filmed reading Psalm 24 which was used as our call to worship.
We shared a video that contained photos of loved ones and other public figures
who have died in the past year and then lit candles surrounding the sanctuary
in memory of our loved ones.
The children heard and saw the story, "The Keeping Quilt" to remind them of the importance of keeping the story of their family past and present.
After, Pastor Damien's message, one of our teens told us about saints
followed by an opportunity to write a letter of gratitude to saints, living or dead, who have impacted our lives. Those letters were collected when coming forward for communion.
Throughout the whole of worship, children had special Worship Toolkits to enhance their experience-- an electric candle to light and hold up during music, a wooden cross to hold in their hand during prayer, an envelope in which to put a gift to God ( a drawing or letter) to place in the offering plate, and a candle sticker to put on their clothing before leaving to take the light of Christ into the world.

On Sunday October 4th, we celebrated our connection to each other all over the world.
and World Communion Sunday.
There were many unique ways that all ages were engaged.
And worship was followed by a fall fellowship that included a Decorated Pumpkin Contest.

There's No Place Like Home

IT'S TIME TO COME HOME.
We celebrated Homecoming Sunday with worship for all ages with our theme of
Coming Home to God enhanced with little nods to The Wizard of Oz. Worship was followed by a good old-fashioned picnic on the front lawn complete with a giant water slide.
